LMHA has fundraising keep registrations costs down, pay for ice rental, and buy equipment.
Fundraising activities for 2022/2023
Lacombe Minor Hockey will be bring back the cash raffle this year!
All teams will be required to submit an application to fundraise to the Executive. We want to make sure that teams are not doing fundraisers the same weekend, or over fundraising
All fundraising activities conducted by Lacombe Minor Hockey teams or divisions (including CAS) must be
communicated to the President at the initial planning phase to ensure all activites are coordinated and fall in line with our objectives.
In Alberta, only eligible charitable or religious organizations that have been issued a licence are allowed to conduct raffle events. Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission determines eligibility for a raffle. Information can be found on their website
www.aglc.ca.
Fundraisers that require a gaming license from AGLC include all three of the following elements:
- Payment (for a ticket)
- Chance (of winning or losing)
- Prize (A prize won at the end)
Fundraisers that do not include all three elements do not require a gaming license.
Examples of Fundraisers Raffle for PrizesMany teams put on Raffles for baskets and gift cards. A Raffle where tickets are sold, there is a chance of winning or losing and there is a Prize at the end requires a Gaming License.
50/5050/50’s require a gaming license when all three elements are present. Tickets are sold, there is chance and there is a prize paid at the end.
Coach DrawsNo Gaming License required if tickets are not sold (Element 1 missing)
Silent AuctionsSilent Auctions do not require a gaming license
Where to purchase gaming licenses?All Gaming licenses for Raffles under $10,000 must go through the LMHA fundraising coordinator, please email lacombehockeyraffle@gmail.com
Lacombe Minor Hockey Associations Involvement in Team Fundraising Lacombe Minor Hockey Association is held liable for any gaming license received by a team in our association. If those licenses are not fulfilled LMHA risks losing the ability to apply for any gaming licenses in the future including Casino’s, Raffles and 50/50’s.
Any licenses required must be done through Lacombe Minor Hockey by contacting lacombehockeyraffle@gmail.com. License applications are completed online through our profile and are done free of charge.
When you complete your license and send your final report to AGLC please also send a copy to
lacombehockeyraffle@gmail.com . It is your responsibility to fulfill the requirements under the license.
