The Broom Tree Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving women and their families in central alberta. Below is a video from Donna Abma, Executive Director and the Broom Tree.

Lacombe Minor Hockey Association is partnering with the Broom Tree to provide players an opportunity to give back to their community.

Teams will compete to raise funds, volunteer their time and collect items for the broom tree. The winning team will receive a pizza and pool party donated by Torque Mechanical.

How do teams win?

Teams will collect points through six different ways until February 28  :

1.Volunteer Hours

Broom Tree needs volunteers to help with clients relocating by moving furniture, cleaning and donating goods. These opportunities are posted on Broom Tree Social Media

1 person hour = 20 points

2.Cash Donation

Donations to Broom Tree will receive 1 point for each dollar

$1 = 1 point

3.The Blessing Bags Project

Blessing Bags are a community initiative that was designed to offer women who are homeless bags filled with items such as toiletries, gum, socks, toques, gift cards, and other small items.

Current items needed $5 fast food gift cards

$5 = 5 points

4.Noel Project

The anticipation of Christmas can be difficult for many families. The added pressure of buying Christmas gifts, paying bills and building a memorable holiday experience for parents shouldn’t have to be so difficult. The Broom Tree Foundation partners with local churches and community members who have a desire to support families during Christmas through shopping and supplying gifts and gift cards, fuel cards and groceries.

Family of 4 = 250 points

Family of 5+ = 400 points

5.Broom Tree Table Program

Our Broom Tree Table meals come with one main dish, one dessert, a bread product and a carton of juice. When you purchase a Broom Tree Table meal, you are not only feeding your family, you are also providing a meal to a family in need.

$1 = 1 point, normally these meals are $50

6.Item Donation

Calculated case by case, as requested by the broom tree

7. Cafe Purchases!  NEW

Hand in your reciepts to your team coordinator

$1 = 1 point

Tracking Points

Team with the most points will be awarded a pool and pizza party provided by Torque Mechanical. Each team will name a Rockets Give Back Coordinator, this person will be the main point of contact for upcoming projects and will track the teams points. Teams will track their points as they earn on a google sheet provided by Lacombe Minor Hockey here
